Excal Female End Caps

Hi All,

Excal 1000
Garrett 250

Looking to change original blue headphone on my Excal for GG UW. Need some opinions about hardwire or ikelite connector. I do beach hunting and don't plan on using them for diving. The wiring issue (what color to what color??) for hardwiring is do-able by me. I'm out of warranty. I read that OBN was looking into having connectors made, any final word?

All you probably are looking for is in the Excalibur Accessories sticky at the top message listings for the forum. Just read the subject headers and follow the links.

The final word was, machine shops are slow,,,been close to a year now and they are doing the larger jobs..while my little 36 endcaps are just a hunk of material setting in the corner. I do have a friend who is casing them (a well known member here on findmall also), and is very near to a perfect casting. He sent me a couple samples, and the are beautiful!! So hopefully in the near future he will share his endcaps...
For right now you may want to go the Pel-tor mode, cheaper and better then the GG UW in my opinion. The GG UW's were made for underwater detectors, not just for the excalibur. Therefore they have a little regulator coil that needs to be taken out so the excal can get the best audio.

Video of the audio compare of the stock GGUW with the regulator (still in),.....to the Koss yellows, the first 40 seconds tells the story, then the rest is the beginning to end of the test. GGUW's First, Stock koss yellows second.

Casted endcaps, very near......thanks OT for all the time and effort you have put into this research....Hoping for next spring....

Hey OBN,
When that little regulator coil is taken out do the wires have to be soldered, haven't opened up the GG yet so don't know what they look like yet. HH

Yes they should be soldered. When you open the right cup on the GG UW's there will be a blob of melted plastic, Looks like they use a Glue gun..you just pry this out, then cut the wires going to the coil (it's tuff but doable)...you have 3 wires and if I remember correctly coming from the coil cable that goes to the pod, I used the black and white. (You will only need 2), these I wired to the right side piezo buzzer, then ran 2 wires off the piezo to connect to the other side. (Test before you start to seal things up) Then I epoxyed all back in place then siliconed over that. All you are doing is taking the little coil out of the circuit. I'm surprised GG/detectorpro has not customized a special set for the excalibur since a good percentage is used for the excal....

Tell me more about the endcaps. what are they for?

These are for the excalibur, OT is still tweaking them but some amazing repo's..Good for remote pp, excellent for if you want to change out the headphone, and you can grind off the single pigtail mount, drill and tap for a coil change, or drill for the ikelite female connectors which would be the biggest reason....

Joe,

I should be finished before winter, so we will have the caps way before spring. Soon after I return home I intend to get back on this project.

OT,

Are you taking order for these as well?

PM sent, the short answer is maybe, however I am not going into the business of making these caps.
