Excal discrimination knob

Does anyone know how to safely remove the discrim-pinpoint knob on the Excal without damage (3 yrs left on warranty)? Also, not really interested in sending to Vegas unless there is no other way. The plan was to swap out with another knob I don't use much. The broken knob seems to be spinning without changing to pinpoint mode. (Too many wrong way turns proly) I also saw the thread on Radio Shack knob #274-403 and would go there if I can safely remove the knob. Thanks , Mike

All you need is a 1/4" socket and a pocket knife. Use the knife to remove the yellow cap on the knob. Underneath is a 1/4" nut. You probably just need to tighten the spinning one, not too tight, just enough to stop the spinning. You can get original replacements from Minelab, sometimes for free if you just go on their website and tell them your problem. They sent me a whole new set and I replaced every one of them. I had bought a used machine and every knob on it was spinning. Dick Schultz of Minelab was very helpful in explaining what I needed to do and sent me the new knobs, excellent customer service Id say!!
