EXCAL Disc settings

Hey Grumpy,
best to take your own items out in the yard and test, bring some pull tabs, penny, dime, nicks quarters, aluminum foil, cans, fishing weights and everything you may think you are to encounter. Especially on the beach. Then run your detector over the item and play blank the trash. The manual is not very specific about discrimination and tells you to do the same thing.
If you are on the beach, however, don't discriminate any ting, dig everything with a tone, yes you will dig junk and your pockets will soon full up but you will learn the signal differences then dig if you want. I still dig everything, its like doing your part to clean the beach one pull tab and bottle cap after another. Now that I got rid of that stupid coil cover and epoxied the coil, the Excal is even better, more stable and cleaner sounds.

Grumpy, for gold leave the Discrimination on 1, never move the knob. You are already on vacation from iron, dig the rest, its not worth missing something you'll regret later on.
