excal disc/all metal knob

Hello,
Should the disc/all metal knob click into each mode or does it just turn to each mode with out a click. I just picked up a used excal blue decal 1000 series model with the blue headphones and am not familiar with this detector, although I do have a Musketeer Advantage.

It more or less just turns into each mode. you won't be able to feel the click by finger touch due to the o-rings absorbing the clicking. you can hear the click in a quite room without headphones - but not while hunting.
