Excal...bead of water ??

Tony

Member
At the headphone end and behind the black plastic end cap, is it normal for there to be a bead of water that kind of follows the outside rim as you turn the body of the detector ?

The photo sort of shows where the water is.....the amount is reducing as time goes by....does it drain through one of those small screw holes ?

The water is sitting from about the 6 o'clock to 9 o'clock position.

Just received the detector today and gave it the good old bath test.

Thanks for any help,
Tony.

....It is definitely draining out of the bottom screw hole as I've been watching it....just need to know if this is normal ?

Thanks,
Tony.

If you lokk at the detector, right behind the screw...between the screw and where the blue starts...you will see the big rubber O-ring that keeps the water out of the electronics tube. The water is simply some that got into the area where the cap shoves into the tube. As long as it's on the outside of the O-ring there's not problem. If it's an older machine you may want to remove the screws, pull the end caps out slightly, and apply some silicone grease to the O-rings to keep them soft and sealing well.

Mike,

Thanks for your reply.

The detector arrived today and is brand new so I gave it the bath test just to be sure.

The water was always behind the big black O-ring that you mentioned and has now completely drained from the lower small screw openings.

Guess I don't need to be concerned as this appears to be normal.

Thanks again,
Tony :ausflag:
