Excal batteries

Can someone please explain to me how to make the 2/3 AA 1.2 1200 MA NI-MH batteries work in the EX pod? I got 10 of them as advised in the post below now I need to know how to hook them up in the pod. Do they go in the alkaline pod or the waterproof rechargeable pod? If in the alkaline pod do I need another holder?
Thanks for the help as I haven't a clue about batteries or chargers but I don't want to have to spend $95.00 for another pod if I don't have to.

You have gotten yourself into a bit of a mess......

Let me say first that your choice of batteries sounds good.....would give you about 20 hrs of run time.

The problem.........
Most guys send their rechargeable packs or pods to Batteries Plus to have them rebuilt.

The cells on rechargeable packs are typically spot welded together using thin metal strips to make the connection between cells. You end up with a group of cells tied together with the little strips.

You will need to take the works to a shop that can do the job for you.

The batteries that I have have a tab. Is that what is connected to each other. Where would I take them to have the work done? Could I take my batteries to Battery's plus and have them do the work or do they just work on their batteries? Is there any place on the web hat might show how to do it?
Thanks for the info!

You would have to see if Batteries plus would do the job for labor only, since you have the cells.
If you can find some other battery repair shop that can do the job, that would work too.

That tab you see on each cell would be spot welded to the end of the next cell. If you have a cordless drill that you feel ok about taking the battery pack apart on, you can see about how it's done.

Still has to be done right or the cells can be damaged. The spot weld is so quick that there is little heat transferred to the cell. Would not attempt to solder them together........You would have to apply a lot of heat for a fairly long time. Not good for the cells.

Thank you... I have a spot welder and a cordless that I am getting ready to trash as it will no longer hold a charge. I'll check it out & if if is beyond my ability I will check out a shop
Thanks for the help

We are not talking about a spot welder for the usual kinds of spot welding. Would have to be a special small one made for the purpose.

You risk too much with overkill . You risk burns, exploding cells, cell damage. Better not try this yourself.

Oh! Well off to batteries plus or I'll just stick with the alkaline. Thought by reading the post that it would be easy-shows what I know...

Easy with the right equipment, and if you know how to use it.
Some of this stuff is special made to do special jobs. Made for a singular purpose, and worthless for anything else.

The pros use the right stuff so they can produce a good product.
