Excal and EXP SE

I have a Garrett Sea Hunter 550XL and a Fisher 1280X. I decided to go with Minelab for all the reasons one reads in the forums. I am making some progress learning what my new, to me, SE is trying to tell me. Found a used Excal on one of the forums and decided to 'upgrade my UW units by getting it. Question... Will my experience, brief as it is, with the SE make the Excal an easier beast to manage? I've read that an Excalibur is just a waterproof Soveriegn.
I am pretty good with both the UW detectors and run a Garrett and Fisher CZ7A Pro on the surface. Minelab is a whole new ball game. Your comments will be appreciated. Thanks GOM (grumpyolman)

The Excalibur is a totally different machine when compared to the SE. SE experience will not be help on the Excalibur.

The good news is that Excalibur is so easy to use that you'll be an expert after one short run. The SE will take you some time.

Thanks DukeOBass. Appreciate the sharing of knowledge. Reading the bottom of the post, it seems we both own the basic same beasts. Put an X-1 probe on my SE and now have gone to the 8 SunRay coil. Regards! GOM

I'm not sure how much it will translate from the opposite direction but I felt transitioning from a Sov (used full-tilt for a year) to the SE was pretty smooth and that learning the Sov helped me get started quicker with the SE. Both machines work somewhat in the same way (vis-a-vis the multi-freq. send-receive) which, from my short experience, seems like they act pretty similar around targets and trash except for how the audio sounds. Going by the sound, the audio on the Excal is analog vs. digital on the SE and I think the analog signal contains more info so you may really like that Excal.
