Excal 800 II/ Excal 1000 II

How much difference in performance is there between these two machines? Is the coil size their only difference? Thanks,

Some say the Excalibur 800 is easier to swing in the water than the 1000. That was the older versions. I'v owned the 800 (no the II) and the 1000 II.

I would say that with the newer lighter coil on the 1000 II makes for an easier swing in the water comparable to the older 800 coil.

From my limited experience with the newer 1000 II, right now the 1000 II seems to be a tad deeper than the 800.

The 1000 II is in my opinion a better machine for my type of hunting.

The 800 is nice for the trashier areas.

The newer plugs for changing coils seem to be a waterproof answer to changing coils on the Excalibur. Check out the postings on this site about that topic.

the colis arent interchangeable on the excalibur 2,unless sent to factory authorized repair center..the 800 picks up smaller targets where the 1000 goes a bit deeper..i have a 1000 2:clapping: and have done very well with mine this past year..
heres my last gold ring find around xmas 2009 at the beach in about 16 inches of sand in the wet.:minelab::detecting::thumbup:
good luck
john.

I've thought about buying a White's Dual Field PI but don't really want to dig up every target, I hear this PI will go deeper than the Excal but wonder just how much deeper and if it would be worth digging up every target, of course, digging in the sand is easy but when you're pressed for time, it would be nice to just go after midtones.....HH

i have a friend that i hunt with who has both excalibur 2 and whites dual field, and on the beach he prefers his excalibur 2 over his whites..
this is just what we found out over several hunts on the beaches together..
good luck with your choice..
john

I have both the excali2 10" and the dual, this time of year when pickings are poor for the excalibur i can still find stuff with the dual although i must say that the excalibur in AM is deep. The longer you use the dual field the less trash you will dig, a lot depends on the beaches though, i have some places it would be imposible to use the PI, even the excalibur struggles because of the iron flake.
