Excal 2 questions-Need help

I wrote a letter to a property owner requesting permission to M.D. on a lot that they own and they gave me permission. This lot no longer has a home on it but in the 1800's, this was the first home built in my county. I typically M.D. at the beach and I am wondering if anyone has an opinion on what settings on my Excal would be most effective in the dirt. Question# 2- Can you overcharge an Excal 2 battery? Any help would be great. Thanks

Question 2- Read the other threads in this forum on batteries.

Question 1- My first bust dime which is also my oldest coin (1835) was dug using a friend's Excalibur in the woods. I had about 1 hour run time total on this machine and never even used a Sovereign before. Not only that but the threshold was unstable (he had to send it in). I also dug a large cent that was dropped with it. I'll let the Excalibur guys give you advice on setting it up. I just wanted to give you some inspiration. The only good thing about using an Excalibur in the woods is it's heavy enough to fend off a bear should need be. Man was that thing HEAVY! It was raining, though, so I guess that's good enough reason to use one.

Over charging.. Yes you can.. Especially when using an aftermarket Rapid charger... I use the Rapid charger and my batteries are fully charged in less than an hour...

It always good to check on the Battery that's being charged every so often.. To make sure that it's not getting HOT.... If the pack is warm.. Remove the pack within the Manfu. time frame (12)hrs or if the battery pod feels warm

USE a Swingy Thingy....... Bungee Harness..... It take ALL the weight of ANY machine off of your arm...

Detectors are only Heavy.. when you don't use the right accessories. :)

In the right place you may do well, but the excal shines the best on the beach. I used it for about 1 hour in a trashy area, using discrimination 1, very tuff hunting. Could have been because I have used land detectors before and have got use to the luxury's of meters. Good Luck, let us know how you do. I would try VB Max's setting for the beach to start...............
