Excal -2 first gold with ice

Well I finally put all that found change for the year to good use. We decided to pick up another Excal, which got delivered monday. Charged up the battery for a day and off to the beach to break it in. Wasn't in the water for more than 20 minutes and my scoop broke. Rather than call it quits, we drove a half hour to Bill Jacksons and picked up a new one as an early birthday present.

Back to the beach to pick up where we left off. Great beach day, tide going out and semi-calm.

Ended up with $2.93 and 1 14k gold ring with 6 diamonds (missing 1).

New scoop works great in water but what a bear on the sand ( its like dragging a sledge hammer).

Paul congrats on the ring, looks like you and Patty are ready to clean up the waters of Clearwater Beach. I like the balance shaft, now you need a belt with hook to carry-drag your scoop, that will help allot, mine is fine in the water but very heavy after a few hours on wet sand. With belt and hook no problem I can do 6 hrs. easy.

Actually sounds like a good idea for a post. Im sure there are lots of systems in use.

Paul, This is what I use, got belt and hook at Lowes, but I am sure Home Depot will have some also. The tool belt is all plastic fasteners and dries very fast. The hook clips on very tight, but I thru some duct tape around it for when I get in rough surf. The hook will pivot back out of the way if you don't want to use it in the water. That is shown in the last picture. The belt also holds a pouch if you wish. I use a fanny pack with two compartments, one for trash and one for Gold, but lately they both have been full of trash. I know , I need to come down your way. Maybe soon. Total cost around 10.00 for both best I remember I have had it for 6 months. HH

I USE IT FOR AN ARM REST WHEN HUNTING
