Ive been hunting in disc. mode with sensitivity at 7 on dry sand...Were i hunt there is lots of trash...so hunting in all metal is to time consuming, not to mention the wear and tear on the excal. Just wondering what other people do...? Can i get more depth in all metal....? Ive read that Volume up, sensitivity at full, and threshold low can get max depth out of excal...any thoughts, or imput is welcomed....thanks

I hunt in all metal almost all the time. I have the Mel Parker / OldBeechnut remote pin point / discrimination switch so it makes it really easy to move from pin point to discriminate.

I have found that almost all the time, I can get a signal in pin point and then when in discriminate I cannot on targets that are deeper. I have to dig a bit to get a signal in discriminate.

I also found that I can get a better signal by replacing the headphones and bypassing the little resistor in the end cap. I use waterproof ear buds inside Peltor noise reducing ear muffs.

Going to get a Doc's Treasure amp soon for my time in Florida. I hear good things about the Treasure Amp.

I took your advice and look what i found this morning(Check my newest post)...All-Metal mode....much deaper and no faulsing...Thanks...!

Be careful switching the Excalibur II, she is a fragile piece. Try calling your targets before you dig them in AM, learning the characteristics of the AM/PP targets. (shape. strength, duration)..etc will help save the switch.
