Excal 1000 and a SunRay S-12

I would like to put a SunRay S-12 on my older Excal 1000 with the Blue decal 4 wire setup ? ....Has anyone done this mod SUCCESSFULLY ? .......Can you tell me what wires on the Excal go to what pin number on the S-12 ? .........I called Ralph, and he cannot tell me as he does not make this coil ....he sells them .......I was wondering if anyone can tell me this info that has done the mod ? ....I can find info on the SEF and the WOT , but not on this coil .....Thanks, Jim

Jim, suggestion check the S-12 connector pin for each of the four wires and match with the Minelab #1 Red #2 Black #3 White #4 Yellow. Good Luck Ron

Jim,

What I told you is that as long as you are not taking the connector off of our coil, all you needed to know is which of the Excalibur wires on your unit went to pin 1 thru 4. They will automatically line up with our pin 1 thru 4 on our coil connector. No, I don't make the coils, our engineer in Florida makes them. We final test and label them and distribute them from our location. i looked up our pin configuration for our S coils a few minutes ago and it is Pin 1 (red shield) - Pin 2 (red) - Pin 3 (clear shield) - Pin 4 (clear) Pin 5 & 6 are not used. However, like I told you that information will do you no good unless you find out which colors on the Excalibur wires represent Pin 1 thru 4. I hope this helps and clears this up.

What you need to know is RED of the SOV coil goes to BLK of the control tube.

The shield of the RED wire from the SOV coil goes to the RED of the control tube.

The CLEAR wire from the SOV coil goes to the WHT of the control tube.

The shield of the CLEAR wire goes to the YEL from the control tube.

If anything has to be checked, NOW is a good time to check. Turn on the machine and see if there is a Threshold that can be obtained. If not, switch 2 of the wires around. Mainly the CLEAR and its shield. Be sure to unplug that battery when doing this change.

Ralph and Joe,
Thanks for the info ...It's much appreciated ......I got it now .....Thanks again , Jim

BTW ....Looking at a chart that I have , and from other info , this pinout is the same pinout as the WOT coil ......That picture of the Excal board helps me TREMENDOUSLY ......So basically I will be leaving the connector on the S-12 coil and will wire in a male connector on the wire coming out of the Excal and the pinout will go like this .....

1) Red
2) Black
3 ) White
4 ) Yellow
5) not used
6) not used

IF I get no threshold , I will be switching the White and Yellow wire ......When I have this right , I'll keep it written down if anyone needs it in the future ..... Jim

Here's another link that I found that has some good pic's from Max showing the wires and how they lay out ......

It shows a picture of exactly what Ralph is talking about with the wiring ......Jim
