Exalibur Settings needed for FL. trip.

Well, I got my new Exalibur in the mail the other day and I will be traveling down to FL. (Ft. Myers ~ Tampa area) on June 11, 05. I would like some information on the settings I should use for wet sand / water hunting with my new Exalibur. Before getting my Exalibur I got an Explorer XS, which I will still take with me, and I set the discriminator to about 9 on the screen in order to knock out iron objects. The best I can tell on the Exalibur I need to set it somewhere between 1 and 5. Anyway, I would like to hear what you have for your settings. Also, I would like to know some good spots you may know of so that I don

Set disc. on 1 and sens on auto to start, after getting the hang of the detector, run the sens as high as you can.

Andy Sabisch publishes several books on Minelab's. Advanced Water Techniques is a good one for Excal owners. He also publishes Mastering the Explorer XS. Both are very informative. Good hunting, David @ Dixie

Sam, I was going through the forum when I noticed you were heading for Ft Pierce. This letter could find you in the poky if you ventured out into the water in that area. Mel Fisher and the boys own the water rights in that area and frown on anyone spashing in their water with a metal detector. You can search the beach all you wish. but STAY OUT OF THE WATER. I know it's a bummer, but you can always wait for a lunar tide. the water goes way out and gives you plenty of unsearched areas. Good Hunting, Ron

Thanks for the info. Ron. I am not in the poky yet. I have hunted that area before with my Explorer I (found a silver half real not in too good of a shape but recgonizable) and covered the area BETWEEN the dunes and low tide water line. I got my feet a little wet but I did not get more than ankle deep. I saw one of the THer boats while I was there and they did not call the police so I must have not been too far out. I do know that they consider getting in knee deep or so as a no no.
Thanks and HH
