EX SE, lower shaft is stuck!

Hi, I have been reading this forum for a couple of months, and learned a lot!
I have had an ace 250 for about a year, and purchased an EX SE about a month ago. I had a hard time pushing the lower shaft into the upper shaft when I assembeld the EX,then I got it pushed up to far, and have notbeen able to pull it back out to the right length. I have pulled so hard I am afraid I might break it!.
My other thing about the XE I am having troublewith is the differnet sounds it makes. I am sure I will learn its sounds evetually. Has anyone had an easier time by setting the sounds different?
Thanks in advance!

Sounds as if when you were trying to install the bottom shaft You didn't have it aligned properly an "Forced" it into place..:nono::unsure:

Hey dog,
I had the same problem. It seems that the new upper shafts that they are makning are slightly smaller around than they use to be. I have a couple XS lower shafts (the grey plastic ones) that I had to take the sander to in order to get them to even go together. As far as yours being stuck, I would remove the upper and lower shaft from the unit so you don't have to wory about the control housing.

You might try heating up the metal upper shaft, maybe some hot, wet rags wrapped around. Wait a couple minutes and pull like hell again.

Try putting it into the freezer. Just let the coil stick outside the door and jam in some towels to close up the gaps. Let it sit in there for 15 or 20 minutes and try pulling again.

You may have to resort to using a sharp point to dig into the lower shaft and then pry against the bottom of the upper shaft. You will have to work both sides in small incriments. This is assuming that you are talking about the grey plastic lower shaft not the carbon fiber one.

Hope this helps. HH - BF
