When i got my new explorer after using it. I found that the II was locking on a target and not reseting and wen it did this the only way to get to reset was to hold the coil out in front of you.then it would except the next coin and lock up. this happen in all modes. and last for houres then it would work ok for hours and then go back to the lock up has anyone elese had this happen to them?

Lower it to suit or you may want to try and see if this situation occurs when you try the on board default settings with a minimal but necessary extra amount of settings to gain at the increased depth. These extra settings will also depend on soil types and the ground conditions you search and whether you run them in the SEMI-AUTO or AUTO.
So IF you haven

It moves but it takes a while. Or you can raise it up and set it back down & then it will move. After reading the previous post, I started to wonder why this is happening to me -it didn't used to. So I was thinking about what I am doing differently now that I didn't used to do. What I came up with was the settings. In the past I didn't have the 'deep' setting turned on. Could this be the cause? I would sure like to hear what the more experienced guys have to say about this.
I don't think it is caused by my sensitivity setting. I don't have it any higher than I did before. And I have always used 'auto'.
Same goes for the gain. I used to run it higher than I do now.(of course the gain effects the audio so that shouldn't effect the display)
Lately I have been using Mike Moutray's settings and "Charles'Rock Solid Set up" with the sensitivity at 20-26 auto. I don't remember having the crosshair stick prior to my using these programs.
Has this happened to anyone else? Do you know what causes this?
I want to say 'thanks', to all who answered my questions about headphones. I'm real happy with my Ultimate Gray Ghost phones. I am finding coins again! I WAS using some Calrad 15-135B's -what a joke!!! I tried using them until I got some good ones but man I couldn't hear or find S__T with those things!

I'd like to know more about Charles' Rock Solid Setup on the Explorer. Thanks Jake

Go to this website, http://mike45177.tripod.com/index.html
Once there, click on, "tips & tricks" then click on, "Explorer tips & setups" and you are there!
(I haven't learned ho to post a link yet)
You might want to save Mike's site to your 'favorites'. It has great info & links!
Good luck, Bill/Wa.

The ID will move to the correct reading only after the threshold has returned. So you have to move the coil off of the target slightly to get a threshold & correct ID. Having your sens set to high to where your in a constant null with the coil not moving will require you to raise the coil off the ground to get a threshold & correct reading. If you are having to much nulling or are in a constant null you need to lower your iron mask, slow your sweep speed, lower your sens or use a smaller coil or a combination the four.. Ground conditions can change rapidly & you need to pay attention to what your threshold is telling you about your ground conditions & make adjustments as needed . wildherre
