I have not used my ex cal 800 in water in the ocean in about 5 years. I'm headed to the Jersey shore and was wondering if anyone could tell me how to set it up? Any help would be most appreciated

1st charge the battery over night! Disc on set at 0....Sens set as high as conditions will allow without falsing.....Vol,where you like it....Thres just to where you can here it.swing away!

Yep I have to agree with the above except make sure to clean skid plate out
after use clean all sand out, it somtimes will cause machine to false a bit or cry while swinging
other than that have fun
good luck
John

I dont know about setting the sensitivity as high as you can.
I think it runs better at about 12 O'clock.

Run in all metal (pinpoint). Check targets in discrim. Sensitivity at 12 o`clock. Volume just under maximum. Discrim set at 1. Threshold at just null or barely audible (your preference). Get rid of coil cover. Slow sweep speed. One man`s opinion. Good luck !!! Scotto

If you have a battery conditioner or a friend who has one, take the time to fully condition the battery. If it's a NiCad it might not run very long unless it's conditioned first. You might even conclude, wrongly, that it's met its life-cycle and purchase new. Jim
