Just curious as to the difference between the cz5 and cz6. I see tons of posts about the cz5 but I hardly ever see one about the cz6. Is the cz6 as deep? Is it not as popular...and why?

Hi, I bought my CZ6 in 1990, and my detecting buddy has a CZ5 and the only difference is the CZ6 is splash proof, which means putting a plastic bag over the CZ5 when its raining, otherwise they are identical.

I just couldn't figure out why the cz5 is almost legendary while there is rarely a mention of the cz6. I have had them all including the cz7 and now I have the cz70pro. A few years ago the cz70pro was advertised as splashproof and rainproof. Are splashproof and rainproff the same thing?

CZ6 has not been manufactured for over 10 years so if you bought one used it would likely have a lot of mileage on it. The plug that attached from the coil to the box failed in many cases and as it was molded could not be repaired and many CZ6 units had to be changed to a CZ6A with a different plug that is still used today on CZ units.
As far as weather resistant, rainproof etc. they are a play of words and would not use these units unless it was just a light rain.Only rainproof units I know of are underwater units..In addendum in 1993 CZ5 emerged with no weather resistant features but an outside speaker and was manufactured until about a year ago and many original CZ6 and yes even early CZ5 units are still being used with little or no problems over the years...
