The first soft drink, (Vernor's Ginger Ale) was introduced by a Detroit Pharmacist, James A Vernor, in 1866. Note: There were several "elixirs" on the market at that time, including what would later be called Coca Cola. These contained alcohol, whereas Vernor's didn't. Thus the name "soft" drink.

I just read in a Boating magazine the other day there is a 'new' fish to the Great Lakes. It is called a Snakehead fish. It is a Russian fish from the Siberian cold waters. It is a nasty fish and is capable of not only devasting our fishing in this state but it has attacked people as well.
It is UGLY and the name snakehead is given it from the belief if cutting off the head of a snake it will still live for like 24 hours or something and guess this fish is the same way.
Will have to see if I can Google search more info on Snakehead fish.
Our cold waters in winter will not kill off this fish since it is used to colder waters.

then it will across land to the next pond. They have been found on the East coast.
Keep your eyes open.

I am guessing the one found in Wisconsin was from Lake Michigan.
A Google search for Snakehead fish came up with way too many hits but the first one I found was one of those

You know he's the serpent in the Garden...a sneaky, sly, slippery evil snake at that!
I hope you don't encounter any while detecting nor get bitten!
