Ever tried magnet fishing?

Hi guys,

I am brand new to the hobby of metal detecting in general and have bought an Ace 350 / Euroace by Garrett, but so far I haven't found anything but a junk bracelet.
What has been more successful so far for me is magnet fishing, coins over here in Germany are magnetic and we retrieved a total of 1.64€ from the depths of our city canal :)
Here is a video with some other cool stuff we found, for example a money box:

Have you ever tried magnet fishing? So much fun for under 50€ :)

Cheers

I have done some fishing like that, but our money is not magnetic. I got some fishing lures and junk. Still fun if you can go detecting.

I hear tell that a"10lb magnet" is one heck of a "Detector" in Canada. I tried it once, but did not have much luck.
The small one (a 2oz model) I carry in my scoop is great on bobby pins and bottle caps!

I bet that would be fun at fishing docks/piers, may have to try that. Where would be a good place to but a good strong magnet? thanks
