Ever have one of those "this is going to be GREAT" hunts?

I went cruising for a hunting spot Sunday - no real direction in mind. I ran across a church that was out of "service" (pardon the pun). It is a large stone church and
brick rectory. Both buildings were closed up and all the windows covered with plywood. There is a large grassed area between the two buildings. Well, looked worth
a try!
I walked about ten feet into the grassed area to do a "sample" search. On my FIRST swing I got a silver warble. Out from about five inches pops a 1935 Merc.
I thought to myself "this is going to be a great spot" !! Well you know how it went. Alot of zincs and clad and a couple wheats. I skimmed over the entire area and
couldn't turn up much else.
The only surprise that saved the day was a really nice Civil War store token. It's the size of a small cent. On the front it says STAUBINGER'S 116 BROADWAY, NY. On the reverse there is a crest and banner in the form of a styalized, cut a way US flag - and a date of 1863 at the bottom. Condition is above average
comming out of the ground (at about 4-5 in)
I'd say all in all it was a good hunt.

Nice finds. Especially the token. Same general thing happened to me last Friday. I went to my Mom's house in NJ where I grew up and for the first time brought my detector. Within the first five minutes and with my Mom watching, I popped out a 1918 Merc. To make a long story short- no more silver all day, just memorial pennies and a half of a Matchbox car. Had fun anyway. HH Matt.
