Ever exceed the under water rated depth of your unit.

Early on around 2000, got a good salt water splash on a non u/w $700 machine. Totally my fault. Year or two later , dunked a $250 back up machine. I took apart both machines, blow dried them , set the parts on the car dash, couple hrs. That worked.
Little later, out came a dandy machine rated for 10 feet. Kept the o rings greased, never had a problem. Best I do is wade to my chest through. But someone has had some real failures out there , I imagine.

Id bet there is some wiggle room on the depth. Oddly a few of my Xcals that went in for service didnt pass the pressure test. Id be a whole lot more concerned with those machines that you have to open up. We tend to be the problem more than the machine. Ive also gotten drops of salt water on my Xcal boards....... even after being cleaned they sometimes dont work or will continue to deteriorate. One guy was diving with his CTX once he replaced the factory O ring...... which is normally the issue. Another thing....... garden hose clean up...... DONT use high pressure you can get water past the O rings. Ive even used warm water on mine.

Have had AT Pro's, Max's and Equinox's diving down to 16 feet, several times, knock on wood. Prior to that, had a gen 1 ctx leak in 7ft of water, leaked in somewhere besides the battery or data port o-rings. Hundreds of hours on AT Pro's submerged at wading depths, never a had a leaker. Had one quirk on a certain Max, when diving around 12ft if i hit the pinpoint button, it would stay depressed, like a vacuum situation occurred with the rubber keyboard button thing, but never any water in the unit. Would be nice to know when they'll "fail", at 16 feet thats about half an atmosphere of additional pressure. Hate diving with my excal now, knowing that it can't see certain golds that the nox hits easily. Wish the new fancies were rated a lil deeper!

RC....... id make a bet with you that there is very little difference between the two detectors at depth. BBS to me doesnt loose as much coil HALO..... and beach 2 is running at about half the power that beach 1 is..... AND you have that salt setting. You have the advantage of cranking up the sensitivity full and running in AM out there with a real threshold too on the Xcal. You also know the salinity is higher deeper or in some areas. To me ..... all things are going to be equal out there on the small stuff. The Nox .... MAY.... hit on the some small gold a little deeper than the Xcal. Thus far thou ..... with over 800 hours (and im only neck deep hunting) ive just gotten a few OPEN earrings the Xcal wouldnt get. The Nox does seem to like high K gold. My smallest chain this year..... has been with the Xcal ( .4 grams) I hear you on those push buttons....... the CZ compensated for that. What is it 13 lbs of pressure per 30'? I personally havent found much difference in any of the salt water VLF machine IN THE WATER. OUT of the water ....... now there is some clear depth and sensitivity differences. But what makes the Nox impressive is the price you are paying vs results. In the past ...... your results would equal the price.

I have the Fisher 44. And although It specifically do not place
the monitor in the water it got hit by a rogue wave. Alrighty then.
So what did I do. I got out of the water removers the batteries
looked inside and behold no water in the battery holder cartridge
or the batteries. Well since that day happened, I took out the manual again

Sent my AT Pro in twice for leaks. Leaking around the screen. I thought about putting some sealant around the edge. Any thoughts.
