This is the first I've found, but I'm not exactly in a cosmopolitan area of the country. Any else digging any of these up in any kind of numbers? Just curious.

Steve

I posted the question on the Beach and Water detecting forum, I figure the Euro will turn up at the popular tourist and vacation spots first. My Euro is from Germany and was found at a local school tot lot (that particular place gives up more jewelry and odd-ball coins than just about any other place I hunt). I find plenty of foreign coins at the Air Force base I work and detect on but they're mostly Phillipine, Japanese, Hong Kong and other Asian countries.

Steve

I have found one so far.

Hey Steve,
Yep we've seen quite a few Euro's here but then Scotland is much closer to mainland Europe than you are.
Think we've got 6 or 7 euro's at the moment.
Wouldn't mind if you showed us some of your other foreign coins though, (go on, go on, go on.) as we've never seen
any of the countries you mentioned.
That would be nice for us.

Sure thing, Ian.

First up, 3 Asian that I don't know if they're Chinese or Japanese, possibly even Korean. Found the two dirty ones side by side on an Air Force Base, then one week later the cleaner one was at a bark chip playground 30 miles away.

Here's a better shot, if anyone can identify the country I'd appreciate it:

I've got a Phillipine silver dime, 1945 that was minted in Denver USA, soaking in olive oil. You've already guess that it came from the base also I'm sure. It's been soaking for a month and isn't doing so great, I'll probably have to go the electrolosis route on that one.

Hey Steve,
Super collection. I especially liked the Peruvian 10 cent & the possible Saudi coin really nice.
Could that be a Japanese wheatie?
The HO KO 50 cent,, is it meant to be blue or is that the camera playing tricks?
Love that half crown, that was a very popular coin in its day and brings back many happy memories.
Thanks for sharing Steve.

Hey thanks Kristopher,
I must say that the type of buildings looked more eastern to me, but what do I know.
Thanks for the link, makes a difference when you see them in mint condition too.
Although I do like to see all these different coins, it just opens up a whole new world.
:beers:

Thanks Kristopher! I hate it when I can't determine the country or worse, a date. I appreciate it.

Your first coins there are Japanese 5-yen pieces. Your next, the "Saudi" coin, is actually a Thailand 1-baht coin.

By the way, the "holey" half crown is great. Nice find. I'll bet you were tickled when you dug that.

Thanks for the id's to everyone that responded, I appreciate the help and have bookmarked the links provided. The Air Force base is a pretty good place to dig the foreign coins, and I suspect that the ones I find at the local playgrounds mostly come from GI kids also.

Here's one I forgot, it was in the bag of pennies waiting to be tumbled. It's a 1980 New Pence.

I also didn't include a couple of Korean coins I've found, they're aluminum and so corroded that a picture wouldn't show any detail.
Again thanks to everyone for the info!
