Euro Sabre............................

Sven

Well-known member
There's one up for auction, only 18 hours in already up to $355.00, 6 days to go.
Pretty good amount so far for an older machine. Might make sense for Tesoro
to offer it here in the US again, since they are currently selling newly manufactured ones in Europe.
No brainer to do.

Glad I landed one a few months back, the Euro is crazy deep with the 10x12 coil!!!!

I let one of those slip by me that was priced really low. I didn't know any better at the time.

Is the audio tone the same as the Vaquero? I know it has a low tone for iron.

Oooooo I like that!

Bet they would sell a truckload !

1.. I know that I never buy anything off those types of Internet sites, but I know many folks do. I also know some buy at some overly high prices, often not knowing much about various metal detectors or the hobby in general. I wish them luck in their decisions, and I hope the buyer of this clean-looking Euro Sabre appreciates it. I know that I want one and have been trying to find a very clean, as-new Euro Sabre myself. They have their shortcomings, but I do have a use for one in my detector battery.

2.. I also know that whoever buys this Euro Sabre ought to invest in a modern, current-production, top-end detector such as a brand new-in-the-box White's VX3. The buyer might already have a Tesoro or two around so they really don't need another, and they could just send this Euro Sabre and a $450 USPS Money Order to me in trade.

The Euro Sabre as an interesting release here, many years ago, and is basically a modified Eldorado providing ED-180 Discrimination and a fair attempt to produce a 2-tone audio ID to help classify some iron targets. I found the one I had to work reasonably well on shallower-depth targets and was handy, with a smaller-size coil, for working my favorite old town sites and homesteads, and so on.

The bulk of the people involved in the meta detecting hobby are typical urban coin shooters and I'd bet many of them would find the Euro Sabre to come up a bit short of what performance they would like to have. It's a modern era and most folks want a modern detector. Yep, Tesoro ought to make some more, for the few of us who would appreciate them, but this particular clean-looking specimen should just be bought and traded to me. :detecting:

Biased,

Monte

Didn't Robert at one time mention if anyone in the US wanted one, Tesoro will build it for $800.00
which totals the cost if you bought one from overseas.............so if you sold your VX3, you would have enough money to
purchase a new one................

Here's something, looks like Tesoro discontinued producing the Euro for the overseas market. No longer marketed on any of the
European dealer websites.

Monte, if you really want that ebay Euro, you may have to break down and bid on it. Might be your only chance to get a pristine Euro....

In response to "buying off those types of internet sites". I've purchased over a dozen detectors from the big auction site with no problems at all. Considering the possiblility of needed repair, I never let myself be pushed too high on bidding so that if need be, even with a repair bill, I'd come out all right. I may have been lucky, but it let me own and use/try quite a few detectors at a reasonable cost. To date, the only problem I had was a coil that had a hair line crack that worked fine until water got into it. Tesoro replaced the coil at cost so I wasn't hurt much on that, either. I have no argument with those that wouldn't buy that way or only buy new from a local dealer, but I haven't found it to be a serious gamble.

Man oh man, if only my Vaquero had that Iron ID !!!!

I don't understand why that's only machine they've ever offered with 2 tone capability. The Tejon would be an even greater machine with that capability.

Seems like it was made for our funny coins

Can 't understand why we can't order one they do want to sell machines. Don't they?

My GSII has two tone and it's 22-23yrs old. Anything below the notch is low tone...anything above the notch is high tone. The notch is a beautiful thing....in more ways than one!!!!!

Who knows what goes on inside the minds of those at Tesoro..................

Just did a little research on the euro saber, that was an incredible machine from what i gathered correct me if I am wrong you could search in all metal but the machine would still give a low tone on Iron and a high tone on non Iron, and if it went back and forth it was round Iron with a hole in it like a washer , truly an interesting machine, I don't know much of all the alder tesoroes I got out of detecting in about 82 until 2007 so I missed a lot

Are all Tesoro detectors manufactured in Prescott Arizona?

You have to be in the discriminate mode with minimum discrimination to get the two audio tones. If you turn the discrimination up past iron you will only get one audio tone, since iron is discriminated out. The 'all metal mode' on the Euro Saber works just like the one does on the Vaquero. At any rate, that's my read on it. Also there's a later improved version, the Euro Sabre II. It's has a black faceplate. I always want something that I can't have or is hard to get. LOL

Yes, every single one of them, even our European models are made right here.

the other Dual Tone models they once made, to include the:

Royal Sable
Golden Sabre Plus
Pantera
Golden Sabre II

Tesoro used to make some models that were quite competitive and their Dual Tone models, especially the Pantera, found quite a number of good tagets for me in challenging target locations ... especially keeping a smaller-than-stock coil mounted which was always the 7" Concentric coil.
