etrex accuracy

Hello Andrew; when my plain etrex model tells me that the accuracy is, let's say 10 feet; does that mean a 10' radius from the target or the target will be within a 10' diameter circle when the etrex says 0.00 feet, which means that I'm supposedly right on the target. Hope you're not confused by the way the question is worded. Thanks, Jim
 
What the receiver is telling you is:
I am 90% sure that you are within the given error distance from the position that I show you. I don't know which way and exactly how far but, I'm pretty sure you are within that circle but... there is a 10 percent chance that you are not...
In any case, the center of the error circle is the position indicated by the receiver.
In reality, in the open, the error actual error is often much smaller than indicated.
In the woods, the error is often larger than indicated. Sometimes much, much larger...
