Etrac vs SE Pro

Ohio Digger

I've heard the only difference between an Etrac and an SE Pro is that the Etrac can be hooked to a computer. Is that really the only difference?? Aren't they both FBS from 1-100kHz? Both use 11" Pro coil. Can you use TTF with SE Pro? Does anyone know if the SE Pro gets as deep as its big brother??

There are many differences. Main ones are the Minelab E-Trac is much faster in recovery allowing you to use discrimination better and the auto +1, +2 and +3 sensitivity setting. I LOVE the Auto +2 myself. Give you a little boost and ability to still run a stable machine.

Holler at me from my website if you have more questions, love to help you! Bart

I have owned the Pro and own a standard SE now with the pro coil, which is the same thing, and an E trac, with 2 pro coils, and the 8x6, 12x10, and 15x12 SEF coils. The SE is as deep, but VID is not quite as accurate, SE drops off to the left of the screen, indicating iron, where E trac drops lower on screen, indicating, iron, on deeper coins/silver. Not off by much, but just a little off. There is no TTF on the Se, but the sound of silver, IMO, is better on the SE. The E trac is a little more responsive in trash, with visual ID, and seems to me easier to operate in iron, although the SE is usable, it just requires going slower with the same coil. A smaller coil for either machine in trash/iron is a very big asset. I enjoy owning the E Trac, but do not regret starting with the Explorer and learning, and then coming back to it again. Explorers are great machines.

Etrac deeper than the explorer?. My etrac will not ID a silver dime at 8", using the 10x12 sef coil. Today I re-buried the dime in clean loamy soil. I used my buddy's etrac, that is equipped identically. His machine will not break threshold over the dime.
My explorer has no problem emitting a diggable tone over the same dime. What's odd is that when I perform an air-test over the dime, no problem at 10" for the etrac.

I have had a 6 inch indian, a 10 inch 64 dime, and a 12 inch 64 quarter buried for a year or so now. e trac will get all 3 but id on quarter is off. SE will pick them up as well butt id on dime and quarter is off. Thats with the
8x6 and 10x12, 15x12 does give more stable readings on both machines and more defined signals.
