Etrac VDI Numbers

Guys got my Etrac today and I am a pretty experienced user of every thing but an Etrac or Minelab. I am a Coin Hunter period. I like to get a Gold Ring every now and then but I really do not hunt for them. I hunt old Coins almost exclusively at trashy old Houses and Fair Grounds. I downloaded the Parks Program posted above by Bill and put it on my machine.

I hunted a while this afternoon and found nothing but I was on very much hunted ground just trying out the Machine. I did not have the Parks program loaded yet. I was impressed with how quiet my machine hunted and I realized I need to do a lot of work making a Discrimination pattern.

My question is this in order to find a Nickle the Ideal numbers are 12-(13-15), Zinc which I do dig are 12-(37-46), and a Dime is 12-(44-47.) How much Variance do I need to allow on the Ferrous and Conductive side to pick up Coins that are on end and or worn thin. I do not like digging Tabs at all.

Just use stock coin program..gain 19.....manuel sens. 26.......( I run varability....all the way up)and listen for the nice coin sounds....sometimes a deep Wheat will come in at 1-29..numbers can be all over the place..when deep...but it will sound good!

I downloaded the Andy S Coin Program, the New Park Program, the Parks_Program, and the Houston Coins Program. I am near Houston so this one was interesting. I thought I was hunting this afternoon in the Original Coins program but it picked up every thing so I am going to try one of the above. Leaning toward the New Park Program or the Houston Coins. Any suggestions are appreciated.

A good question daddy flea.

My experiences are take a silver dime--- ideally read 12-45. I have seen worn, damaged, bent read as low as 40 conductive.

And copper cents ideally read 12-42, I have seen them come in as low as 12-39

Basically to find most silver, even the worn, chipped, deep, or shallow. Leaving conductive range of 38 and higher open will do, but remember IHs come in lower, and possibly half dimes, 3 cent silvers,, small Spanish silver

As far as the ferrous lane to leave open, if yourmsoilmis mild you should be ok leaving ferrous range 01-025 open, if your soil is mineralized somewhat, consider leaving ferrous lanes 01-27 open for detection.

Be careful of too much disc even with the etrac. Sound is really the best way to listen for coins in my opinion. I have had silver dimes fall in the 17-25 ferrous range when iron is around and be less than 35 on conductive when tabs and such are in hole with them. But the sound it gave told me it was coin mixed with junk. Too tight a pattern can make you miss good coins.

Deep silver can be 09-44...Indians can be 08-32. I often use the stock coin program and open up the top right corner in case I ever get a shot at a silver dollar being in the ground.

Guys I hate to tell you this but your old Coins are not safe I figured out how to alter these Patterns, I found a 1906 V Nickle today and later tested my Machine. Found that the Pattern I was using hit Nickles good but was not hitting Zincs at all. I have now altered it and will rehunt that Site again. I also found that my Pin Point was not under the X. My machine pin points a little further back. I am ready to get some good Coins now. I had hunted this place at least 3 times with my V3i.

Daddy flea, IMO better go back to the sites you hunted with v3i; especially the sites that produced with v3i.

I have a stubborn brother--- he used a V, and I set up a coin clinic with etrac when I'd hunt with him, guess what he went and bought.

Know what you are talking about. Bad thing is I was missing some possible good Coins with the Etrac Pattern I was using. I have an old Fair Grounds where I have found several Silvers, a bunch of Nickles, and a bunch of Wheats. Hopefully I can start hunting that this Week End. If I hunted all Day long. It would take about 8 Days to hunt this Site. I am now sold on the Etrac.
