Etrac upper shaft sliding out of the Head unit.

Went out for a great day of hunting & surprisingly had the upper shaft to slide out multiple times. Seems like the cam lock just not gripping the shaft properly. Has anyone experienced this with their Etrac? I didn't let this stop my hunt by any means, just shoved it back in place & clamp down the cam lock. Guess I should go out to the car and disassemble it & see what's up with it. Just wanted to see if it's happened to anyone.

I have had the same issue. I wrapped a small sliver of sand paper around shaft and locked the cam it stayed in place.

I have had the same issue a few times. I spray painted the end of my shaft a few times to make it slightly thicker so it wouldn't slip.
I have also had cam lock issues where the inside of it wears out. I used db-weld to build the inside of that cam lock up so it would have a tighter grip on the shaft again.

This must not be an uncommon problem. Minelab has an online replacement video.

I have noticed mine getting more and more loose so I am sure replacement will not be too far away.

good video! pretty much sums up that problem...Now,,where does someone get those "pressure plates" without costing arm and a leg?

I had the same problem with the lower cam lock. Minelab sent new parts at no charge. The upper and lower are different. Minelab sent me the upper parts and they would not fit. They then sent me the correct lower parts. Parts consisted of red rubber with plate and new brass pin.

Hi all saw your post I know you might not believe this when I got my upper and lower shaft it did the same thing to me in my case the upper shaft was put on by me backwards LOL no S--T go figure turned it 180 Degrees no problem Just wanted to let you know what my problem with it was HH

Terrific Vedic, thanks for sharing.

I have this problem on my EXP II but it's out of warranty.
Maybe I'll ask if I can purchase new pressure plates.

mine fall out all the time, when I stretch it out, I always check the ground, was thinking of using some metal heat tape to fasten it

Had the same issue with my unit. A quick call to Minelab and I had a complete upper clamp assembly sent to me free of charge.
