That was a lot of money that someone lost back then! Imagine losing that when a dollar bought a lot. Today, 50 cents can't even get you a cup of coffee. But that silver coin even today can and then some! A whole days worth of food or more. Just goes to show the folly of the destruction of the currency (clads and paper money).
Very cool! The first silver coin I ever found was a Barber half (along with a dateless SLQ in the same hole); haven't found one since--that was 30+ years ago. Congrats on a hard coin to find.
