Etrac repairs...WHERE?

Monkeys Uncle

Well-known member
Lost audio thru headphones and have ordered new replacement. If that doesn't fix the issue, will have to locate a reputable repair shop. Don't want to have to send machine to factory. Is there another alternative? Live near DFW and hope there is a shop within driving distance. TIA and HH!!!!

Two Questions - when you plug your headphones into the E-TRAC, does that disable the sound coming from the E-TRAC, and when you unplug your headphones, does the sound return from the E-TRAC? If this is true, your E-TRAC is working properly. The problem will be a broken wire/bad connection with your headphones or some other headphone issue.

I have broken a few wired headphones...usually is a wire near the plug in jack...sometime you lose only one side of the headphones.
Now I always unplug them before I set the detector down to dig.

Answer to both questions - YES and YES.
I've ordered a new set of headphones that are supposed to arrive today (YEAH!). Hope your explanation is correct...getting very tired of this "Sheltering at Home" exile. Desperately need to get out and swing something!! :giggle: Thanks and STAY HEALTHY!

Thanks for the advice. HH!

Received new headphones...PROBLEM FIXED! (y)

Now you can tear apart the wires near the plug in and re-soldier broken wires on the old ones.

Errrrr....NO! Would love to be that adept...but, not my forte. I'm much better at tossing junk at the trash.
Immediately plugged in the replacements and hit the old school yard. No luck. Just screaming FE (likely steel bolts/nuts??), otherwise alum slaw, bent nails, etc. Oh well, there's always tomorrow. Treasure somewhere out there.

maybe blacken your screen from 21 down to 35....less screaming fe's and usually no nails in the mix.....at least until you get more comfortable with it.
