Etrac problem

Ok, I have had an issue with the Etrac two separate days.
Here is the problem, during normal search one day (happened 3 times) in a field, and today at a fresh water beach.

1. The sound goes dead, but the screen stays on and acts as normal when I pass it over targets. Although the depth gauge maxes and stays.
2. In my head phones I can barely hear the audio, but I do hear a sort of interferance that buzzes in then goes away, almost like some radio burst or cell interferance.
3. The first day it happened for about 30 seconds to a minute then went to normal each time. Today the issue held and I turned the machine off three times and it stayed everytime it powered back up until the 4th time it seemed to work normal.

My first thought was that I was getting overload from a cell tower that is 1/2 mile away on the field. But today at the beach there is barely any cell service at all.

Anyone have any issues like this?

I had an identical problem with my Etrac. It would also shut off at times and give me a flat battery indication. It turned out it was the battery terminal PCB, I re soldered the faulty connection(cold joint). Problem has never came back....

Does the same with the head phones and without.
I was using the rechargeable battery pack.
It is not predictable as of yet.
