has anyone compaired the machines side by side.(exampleof course which is deeper.)Which has bettter target accurcy. etc.etc.

I know what your thinking Shambler............don't you dare..........

Well there is a can of worms just waiting to be opened.

Buy the Vision first, and with all the finds get an etrac....:detecting:

Good one Elton....

The truth is stateguyt is I compaired the SE and Vision for many months doing field testing for White's. The Vision won hands down for me in my ground for my style of hunting and knowledge of product. Your results may, or most likely, will vary. What is best for you is

.

Find a dealer close by that has both... I let my customers "play" with whatever detectors they are wanting to buy... Of course they can't make an informed decision in 30 minutes of information or so but at least they know the feel, see the menu, check the response to a couple of buried coins, etc of the detectors.... Best to all, Richard

And a More honest person you could not ask for.....Whites is Lucky Larry(IL) is one of their product testers..He tells it like it is..Good, Bad, or Ugly..Bravo Larry You do a swell job... Read his posts about the different machines depth, and competitors depth, and you will know he's straight up....If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and looks like a duck..Larry will tell you it's a duck...........So I think that was an uncalled for reference on your part.....and you really owe Larry an apology...This isn't an attack on you..I just think you have the wrong idea about Larry...Many others will back up my statement.

Thanks for the Kudos EL, but I'm used to the flak. Some people don't understand that field testing products is to find and report problems with products, not to blow sunshine up someones azz. Because I use the SE as well as the DFX is why I was asked to test the Vision. Carl told right off that they did not want a "yes" man, but honest feedback on the project. Bug has nothing to apologize for, I WAS a field tester and I told them about what I didn't like, INCLUDING, the audio problem way before production started. Some problems just slipped through the cracks and others got fixed.

I wish you were near me. I'd love to be able to see a real unit, let alone "play" with one. My local dealers will order what I want, but rarely will they have one in stock, assembled, for me to try out in their parking lot.

Sometimes they get one in a box, but will not assemble if for fear their next potential buyer will not consider it to be new. Seeing one in a sealed box is like seeing one on your computer monitor.

My local dealer has several detectors - different manufacturers and the models - all displayed for potential buyers - and if one decides on one, the dealer gets that one model new in the box and will usually open it in front of the customer (unless the customer doesn't want it open), and then ensure every item is accounted for that should be in the box. Then the warranty information is checked, and if the customer wants, the dealer will fill it out and mail it for the customer. Then if the customer wants, the dealer will assemble it, install batteries, then check that the operation is as should be - to include the shafts don't squeak, displays, buttons, knobs, headphone jack etc are all properly operational. Then (I have seen this - I don't ask myself), will work with them one on one the operation of the detector. He is also known to go out with customers to actually hunt. If one wants headphones, he works with you there. He has pouch's, diggers etc.
I called him once and he was out detecting. He said to come on out and gave me directions. After I got there, he placed a new introduced to the market detector in my hands. Then worked with me on it. I liked it, then asked if he had any new in the box. I have bought probably nearly 10 detectors from this guy in the past couple years. Of course I had been reading up on it for that week since it was something new (Whites Vision) and was interested. Well I ended up buying one, then we went hunting at a different place. He wanted me to know what he knew since he got his.
Sometimes it is nice to just drop by, say hi and ask what's new - well, pull up a chair - that's how it usually goes.
In all my years of detecting, I am fortunate to have such a dealer near me, not only for detectors, but all the accessories and support.

You are a lucky man Tab, that is the way a good dealer should do it and they are far and few.

Larry (IL) ... and others who may have some time on both E-trac and V3,

How does the V3 and SE-pro (and / or E-trac) compared ergonomically? i.e. Balance wise and fatigue over longer periods?

Also interested in details about what conditions each excels in.

Particularly, since the V3 won hands down in most conditions for you;
what type of hunt would you grab the Minelab as the prefered tool? A particular site type, ground conditions, specific coil, other feature?

Saving to get one of these and trying to get as much info as I can that I can relate to my likely hunts.
Thanks,
tvr
