I've been hunting for close to a year not, mostly in my home city of Vancouver, B.C. I've found the odd fairly new nickel, loonie and toonie and dozens of not very old Canadian pennies. I'm using the stock coin program. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Peter.

You need to build yourself a program and open up the screen. Try and run the screen full open and reject the following blocks. Ferrous line 28 thu 35 including conductive numbers 40-50. Try and run manual sensivity 25 or higher if you can. Also try Long tone gain set to 30 and leave deep off. Fast recovery can be either off or on depending on your target density. Don't sweep too fast take your time. You can also make yourself a heavy trash program. You can use the stock trash program or you can even modiffy it slightly to suit your needs. It seems I read somewhere where some of your coinage is steel. That's a bummer but can still be had with the etrac but you will have to dig alot of iron to recover a lot of it. You can look back over the past years of etrac threads and find some additional good info that will help you out. Good luck and you might consider finding another explorer/etrac user in Canada too and exchange information.

I agree with detectorfreak. As long as your in places that have the activity from very long ago, something old should turn up. Research is the key to finding those spots. Old house sites and Old homes still in use (if you can get permission) should yield some Old stuff.

Really the only spots that have soil that takes away from your depth, should be shown on your Sensitivy bar. If your running in the low teens or single digits, your finds will be shallow. Another scenerio is Fill dirt, which happens a lot at Ball parks and some parks.

Keep at it and let us know what you've found out.

I,ve just had my e-trac about 9 mo. and still learning, but right off I started finding older silver US coins and indian head pennies
,older wheaties 6"- 7" deep. I havent strayed off the standard coin pattern program (multi tone, conductive) with gain and variability around 27.
auto sens + 3. I myself found it hard to run sens in manual in the 20,s but some guys can. ( there was a post about this a couple days ago.)
My advice is for you to bury some of your older coins at these settings in a clean area 6" deep keep your coil close to the ground and liston
at the tones and watch the no.s where they come in at. Also get the The Minelab hand book by Andy Sabisch. Also there,s some great video,s
on here that are good learning tools.
Get permission to hunt older houses or places where kids played, go slow and overlap your sweeps. Good Luck!
