Etrac finds silver in her 2nd week

I've been working a block of houses that are being demolished. Finally squeezed a silver (1941s) out with the Etrac. Gotta two-piece ornate button and a little cat's eye button to go a long with it. Plus the usual clad that added up to $1.76. I was right in the middle of the demo piles and RARELY had a threshold because of the ET working overtime discriminating out iron targets. The more I learn the tones, the more impressed I am with the ability to find good targets in the iron. I won't be turning loose of this detector anytime soon.

Sorry about the abysmal picture quality. Anyone have any lighting tips for macro photos of coins?

Hi there Diggernash. I'm in iron up to my behind all the time. I like the disc. but have begun going all metal and listening for tone change's. I was wondering, did you get signals of targets while the thresh-hold was in a null state? I believe mine is but it does take a very slow swing to accomplish. Not sure if this is just me picking up tone as the thresh-hold regains or if the signals are trully coming through while the detector is nulled. Great finds. Tortoise

The tones were signaling targets with the threshold nulled. I wouldn't even call the motion I was making "swinging"; it was more like I was just "probing" around the piles of wood, dirt, and brick. And I was definitely moving slowly and from all directions. I'm still learning the tones, so when I got what I thought was a good tone, I would wiggle the coil around over it to give the screen time to update and make my dig decision. I rarely got two way signals, because I could only cut through the iron in one direction. I still have trouble believing that this 11" coil is working so well in the trash.

Thank you. I thought I was getting tones through the null. It sure helps to hear others input. Again, mighty appreciated. Tortoise PS.. I bought the 5 inch Excerlerator and have already put the stock coil back on. Its hard to beat. I did just get a 15 WOT on Ebay. Can't wait to see if that makes any diff. I think its going to be hard to beat the stock setup. Thanks again.

in an area i hunted today the iron level was very high so high that it was basically continually nulled and occasionally "overload". i was still picking up good tones but i noticed i was not getting a visual. i would see a depth reading but no numbers. if i would continually move over a desireable tone in a very tight motion basically an inch or two... i would sometimes get a vdi. i also noted in this same area working in auto +3 i was running 25 still very stable just the constant nulling. i am going to hunt this area a bit more to see what kind of depth i can get. todat no silver in this particular area, most digs down to approx 5 inches or so...
