A friend of mine invited me to come to a small lake beach, to some detecting, they were draining the lake ! It was down about four feet as near as we could tell. Nice long beach but where to start? It was not very developed but there were quite a few campsites and people there even though the lake was half emty. I looked back at the shore and could see a couple posts near shore and thought it may be the remains of a dock. Started working my way out and right away started finding pennies and clad. I was digging everything. Found a nickel, then another, then another nickel signal but when I grabbed a handful of sand I saw the gold gleaming in the sun. My first gold ring! After verifying 14K I ran over to my friend to say thanks. By the way...while waiting for him at his house I detected for 10 minutes and found a Sacajawea Dollar in his front lawn !
