Etrac coil larger then stock, suggestions?

there's a few "as above" 2 Mars coils 13" 15" Coiltek 15" NEL has a few as well & the bigger Detech SEF, RIF have 2 larger coils... there are others out there as well.. whats the best one ?? don't think there is a best one, what I do know is minelab shot themselves in the foot with the CTX and the 4 coils ONLY available for this reason a lot of land lovers have gone back to the etrac just because of all the coil options available...

so will minelab learn that being greedy or for me its about them being in control & control is an illusion as I am sure they are finding out and like the iron fist that controls the xterra forum again control is an illusion loads of info on the xterra is lost because of minelabs need to control , but all they are controlling the decline in share prices.

their shares peaked @ $3.95 when the ctx come out and bottomed out 3 years latter as people realized they had been conned with no updates and no coil choices the price dropped to 59 cents.

what has this got to do with coils for the etrac ?? my point is that this last crop of detectors etrac, xterra will be the last that can hold after market coils so best to keep one if you got a good one :bouncy:

even coiltek have dumped minelab reading between the lines.....they promised more ctx coils years ago none forth coming and now they are making specialized coils for Whites PI detectors.

minelab suing XP to stop them taking the African market.

its not all beer & skittles in the detecting business and without the eastern European untouchable coil manufactures who the smart detector company's have embraced we would have only 5 etrac coils as well if I am not mistaken on that number

so life could be very different and it will be if your a minelab fan the writing is on the wall.

I use the CTX more than the etrac because it doesn't need more than the four coils. I have three but if I have a venue where a larger coil is called for I use the etrac with the 10 x14 elliptical by Detech. I have used the 15" WOT , 12 x 15 SEF , 13" Ultimate and the NEL Hunter and none of them gave me the combination of depth , sensitivity to small objects and separation that the 10 x 14 does in my soil . Soil is the key which is why I will agree with amberjack that there is no one best coil. When covering that much area , it is only logical that the ground becomes more and more of a factor and small differences in coil shape , construction , and surface area can yield surprisingly different results.

Etrac coils can lead to coil accumulation afflictions ,,,, as one who is recovering take my advice , be careful as you move forward.

Detech coils are nice not sure about after sales but hey its a coil unless is DOA I don't think they have much warranty.
