Etrac Beliver

I am now an Etrac believer. For 25 years I have used Whites detectors. Recently I decided to find a new detector to replace my 1990's Whites top of the line. After doing alot of research on line I decided to check out the White's v3 and Minelab. Unfortunately not having anyone local to see how they work head to head I needed to make a decision. And I certainly made the right one. There is some talk on the sites of startup curves for the Etrac and being non-techno sav vy I found that the Etrac isn't as difficult as some would say. Yes it is different from what I was used to, but there is so much on the internet as far as suggestions from other users that one can pick it up pretty easy. And, as they all say Andy's book is a great tool. I refer to it all the time especially in these new stages.
So my finds for the two weeks that I have had the Etrac have been pretty good. I have been working some old fresh water beaches and coming up with pennies at atleast 9", some deeper. I am near the waters edge and get signals, some of which at first I thought were errant signals, but being determined to learn the machine I have been stunned to pull out these coins at great depths. I know you have seen the blogs on how deep stuff is with the Minelab but it is true. I have also pulled out some IH's, and an awesome mens white and gold ring. One 2 hour period found 50 coins on one 150' x 50' beach.
I am still looking for my first Large cent but I am confident that this machine will help me pull it out of the earth. I am certainly glad to have been shown the Minelab and will be happy for a long while. Thanks to NHBob for your time and letting me see the Minelab up close before buying.

Shhhh.... If everyone keeps talking about how great the E-Trac is, it won't be a "secret" weapon in metal detecting.

Glad to hear you like your machine. I felt the same way when I switched to the E-Trac afer using a Whites for 15 years.

Yep,great choice! Bought mine from Streeters as well and have never looked back as the great old finds keep pouring in!

Good hunting with your E-Trac, I thought NHBob sold his E-Trac and when back to the SE. Many Explorer users that made the switch to the E-Trac just didn't like the Ferrous mode not having the high tone like Conduct so they switch back but I bet the new E-Trac model of 2011 will have the Ferrous high tone.

I agree. I bought a V3 when it first came out. I got the E-trac about 2 1/2 months ago. I have since sold the V3. I have found more silver with the E-trac than all the rest of them put together. Found my first Walking Liberty half about 3 days ago. Awesome machine

NHBob did actually have an SE as of a few weeks ago. That one I checked out and liked the way the Minelab worked. He just emailed me that he traded that in because of weight...still waiting to see what he is hunting with now.
