Etrac and Ultimate 13

Since I have had my Etrac I have been hunting old deep coins. Yesterday I was in a spot that had shallow clad and it blew my ears off. I also found that it seemed hard to Pinpoint with the stock coil. Does the Ultimate 13 do a little better job pinpointing than the stock coil?

I haven't noticed that it does. I don't use my Ultimate a lot though unless I am in clean ground with a large area. I usually wiggle to verify the pinpoint with all my coils anyway.

I found the stock to be as easy to pinpoint with as any coil I've had on the etrac and I've used many.
A little back and forth movement after narrowing down with side to side really ratchets the spot down to at or about an inch behind the shaft attachment point.
Depth is spot on as well with coins.

I have to clarify, it was much harder to Pin Point the shallow targets for some reason. I guess just because they were so strong and loud.

Try lifting the coil a few inches above the shallow targets, that'll help ya out as well.

Argghhh! Beat me to it. If you're getting double/triple beeps and loud coins then yes...as he says. The center of the coil is hot,the edges are lukewarm. Chasing surface/shallow clad around with a larger DD sucks. Lifting is the answer.

+1 on lifting the coil for screamer shallow coins/or sounds. As far as which coil pinpoints better I think they are equal in that sense, however in depth and sound on a target, I'll take the Ultimate 13 any day of the week over the stock coil !!! JMO

Screaming targets gives me an idea. I'm an electronics tech and have built many complex circuits I think I could build a Limiter for Headphones that could be set to a depth relation by volume gain and even invert the quiet deep to be loud and shollow to be limited. Think I'll start working on that in the next few days

Now this could get very interesting ! Best of luck in inventions.
