Etrac and Detech Ultimate 13in coil

i recently purchased the Detech 13in coil (recently I mean within the week). In testing, my TID #'s were waaayyy off. On a silver dime, the TID would read ferrous: 25 - 27 , Conductivity: 20 - 22. This could easily be discrminated out and may likely get passed over. Is this an issue with using a 3rd party coil with the ETrac..? I'm looking for others' experiences using the Detech Ultimate 13in coil with the Etrac. Are your TIDs similar to the stock coil. If so, at what depths do they start to skew..? All feedback appreciated.

mine has been dead on ...copper pennies 12:44, dimes 12:45, quarters 12:46, pulltabs 12:16, staytabs 12:22, zinc pennies according to condition 12:36-40, nickels 12:12-14

is that one air test or in the ground, could it be if air test maybe you had a watch on

Thanks for the feed back surfchunker! What depth were your readings at? My tests were in ground testing. I scanned the ground prior to testing with the silver dime to make sure there were no other targets. There were not. This issue is also coupled with the fact that my air testing seems to be below normal from what others have stated. 3 - 4 inch air test with a silver dime. Others seem to get 6 - 7 inches. I know there are varibles that go in to play during air testing but with these 2 issues, I'm beginning to think there may be an issue internal to the Etrac. I may opt to send it off and have it inspected/tested.

Do you know anyone else who has an etrac? You could eliminate a lot of possibilties that way. If you're getting numbers similar to what surfchuncker posted with the pro coil and they go out of range with the Ultimate , I would suspect you got a defective one---13" coil that is.

Mine are a little off but the sound is right on the money!!!!!!. Nickels seem to be right where they should be. My depth is way off half the time......6' is either 6" or surface...????

I also have the 13 inch and have not notice the numbers being way off. I have not hunted with it a lot this year so I will have to put it on and check it out to be sure.

I would do a master reset on it

It is a new coil. I ended up doing a master reset. It appears to be working better. I was able to get a dime at around 12in running 26 sensitivity, manual. While the numbers did jump, they also blinked in the dime range. The tone was on point though. Not sure why it took a master reset but I'm not complaining. I believe this coil will land good relics at an old colonial site I go to. Can't wait to give it a try tomorrow.

Thanks for the responses!

maybe I'll give that reset a shot also....????

Got my 13" Ultimate this week. Ive used it on three different hunts now. So far i haven't noticed much difference from the pro coil. I cannot run the sensitivity as hot. Cover more area. IDs seem to be the same and target separation is good. I hope yours goes good. HH

I took the ultimate 13 out 3 times. It was too erratic for me . I had several false hits in one hunt. I decided to send my 13in coil back. I just couldn't trust the signals and erratic behavior. I have since opted for the coiltek 15. Just purchased one from bigboyshobbies.net. Hoping I have better luck with that one. Happy hunting!

Last year I bought my first Ultimate coil from Big K and it was definitely a bad one. I sent it back within the 14 days and the exchanged it without any cost to me.

The second one was a keeper, well until mascard1 got it!

I have another new one and it works Great!!

BRICE AND I TESTED THIS COIL OUT REALY GOOD AGAINST MY FAVORITE COIL THE NEL 12X13 AND THE ULTIMATE COILDID AWESOME GIVE IT A CHANGE

I really regret selling my ultimate coil...I am contemplating a NEL Attack coil for my etrac...15" and more depth for relic hunting. The one thing I must say about the ultimate is it's crisp scalpel like seperation is very nice. A inch or so more depth is also nice...but the seperation in trash was what I liked.

I have 13 inch detech and it don't work for me! I test at coin garden and its about the same as my 11 inch coil! Maybe 13 inch detech is not great for my vibraphone that I am hearing impaired. I plan to sell it!

I borrowed a friends for a couple weeks while he went out on a job,I could not see any improvement either over pro coil but I think that is because of our heavy black mineralized soil here in Illinois.I even have spots that the Pro Coil is useless but 6X8 works fine.I think in other area's of country might get more depth.

That's very possible. Here in Pa it works considerably better than the Pro coil. I will say last year I did get a bad coil from Kellyco but they did send a new one at no charge.

Its not for everyone, just like detectors, some guys are great with one machine and lousy with another but that doesn't the machine is junk.
