ET and Prospecting?

It is not a nugget detector.

The E-trac is a great overall detector that is fantastic for coins and relics but it does not do well with small nuggets. Better off with dedicated nugget detectors.

Detectors are like tools. You would not want to cut down a tree with a hammer and you would not want to nail a nail with a chain saw.

Etrac has trouble with very high minerilised soils typical of the goldfields (in aussie). I've been in heavy ironstone pebbles on auto +3 it was sitting around 3-6 sensitivity, I was only finding targets on the surface. It will find nuggets if they are there and the soil conditions allow a decent sensitivity (19+), but good soil conditions are unlikley.

I would still take it if you find for old camp sites, old parks on the way there, etc. But hire a dedicated gold machine for the goldfields to have a decent crack at the gold stuff.

Cheers
Greg
