Eric Foster Goldquest V1 Support

New member
Hi all, What a joy to find this forum. I have been browsing the posts. Love it!
I would like to show you my own PI. The name I know confuses which machine this is so best described as a Version 1 Goldquest. It is a higher voltage machine. I am hopeful Eric may post.

Its been really difficult to get support with getting the most from this machine so hopefully I have now found the web resource that will teach me more.
I would like to talk more about how I use it (4 controls Freq, Sens, Thresh & Reject) later.
I have two of these machines (1 is a reserve / project to storm proof which I have never used other than testing on purchase (it has no battery - a future question!)). I am first interested in knowing a bit more about the machine. My two are similar but there are slight difference, the main being the addition of a motion/normal toggle switch on one.

I will try and follow this with a photo in a moment.

The one on the left is the one I use (with the normal/motion toggle switch). I always have it on motion as I imagine more depth.
I have never used the one on the right. It has no toggle switch so I assume it is set as normal (non motion?) and may not be as deep?
Both are high voltage - 12 "rechargeable" C (I think between 14.4 and 18v?) I need to ask more later as have to make a battery pack.
Thankyou for reading! Anybody else using this machine?

Hi Pav,

Possess one of these machines
A very good detector
You can put a more powerful battery
I had to install a lipo 14.4 volts / 4000mah = will give about 16 volts at full load

Do not exceed 17 volts / risk of burning components
If you are taking a stronger battery, take a voltage regulator
Not expensive, there is full on ebay ...

One of this kind, range 4 to 40volts

http://www.ebay.fr/itm/LM2596LED-Regulateur-De-Tension-DC-Buck-Reglable-Reduction-Convertisseur-Module-/122193193711?hash=item1c73482aef:g:eek:ycAAOSwZjhXIxIu

My battery box,
25 volts with regulation
following the detector, 18 volts for goldscan but it is modify ....

Thankyou,
As I have two machines I am keen to modify one for maximum performance.
Do you know anyone who offers the battery modification?
Will Manta Coils just "plug in" or do they require modification?

No, but the battery box is not hard to achieve
Just take his time
The Manta coils can be assembled without modification
If you have the right connector
Three pins or 5 (G5 / tdi)
The number of wires remains the same, just the connector that changes ...
