I love my E-trac, But my elbow and shoulder don't agree with me. A few hour hunt is starting to really wipe my arm out.

How dos the CTX compare to the E-trac for arm fatigue?

It's much lighter than my Etrac was. However, the angle of the hand grip on the CTX seems to be a little different. I have detected all day with my Etrac and never had any issues. On Sunday, I detected about 3 hours with the CTX and my hand and wrist started going numb. I wonder if anyone else has experienced this?

archer it has a better Balance too it , Better angle on the wrist closer too a 90% No fatigue on the wrist, And youl Love the Combined with a open screen, Mickfin

I have the exact same problem. I have been playing with the vertical placement of the arm cuff which seems to help. I also use the arm strap, which I started to use with my explorer se for the same reason - numbness in the hand. My friend is a nurse for 35 years and she swears I have carpal tunnel (worked on computers for 35 years), but I have never seen a doctor for it. Sorry you are having an issue, but kinda glad I am not the only one.

You're right. I think the CTX forces the top thumb side of the wrist back toward you causing impingement and numbness.

I think the arm strap is key to help prevent hand and lower arm fatigue. With the CTX strapped to my arm, I get by nicely with a very loose grip and the weight resting on the top of my hand from the display pod. I use my palm and fingertips to guide the CTX from side to side. After an eight hour hunt I'm tired but not fatigued from the detector, I think the CTX is very well balanced, much better than the ET or SE.

I also need to experiment with the length of the rod extension. I have my CTX set "longer" than any other detector I have used which also affects the angle of the hand on the handle. I just may have the machine set a couple or three of inches too long, just enough to cause an issue as the day goes on.

Coming from a different brand which was front end heavy, CTX is a relief but it did take some getting used to. Before, I never used the cuff strap - the weight at the front of the detector was pushing the collar into my arm. CTX is so neutrally balanced that at first the coil was sometimes lifting off the ground. At first, I was controlling it with getting a tighter grip and forcing it level with my wrist. This was tiring. Not any more tiring than using my wrist to keep the coil of the other detector off the ground but still tiring. Than, I started to use the strap and it all fell into place. The swing became really natural, the coil control effortless and all that without actually gripping the hand grip! Now I get a feeling that CTX just floats in my hand. The only thing I may wish for is an easier than Velcro way to set / undo the strap. Hmm, maybe CTX 4040 will have a motorized calf (two half moons) that can be opened and closed with a push of a button?

Great balance. Yes, using the strap helps, that's why it's there. Holding your CTX, put your elbows to your side and extend your reach infront of you. Then extend the lower shaft out until the coil is level to the ground 9-12 inches in from your toes. Enjoy.

Dr Tones is Right , The closer too your Feet the Better though, Mickfin

I moved my arm rest but haven't been out for the test to see if that's the key

Thanks for the replies. My biggest issue is my elbow. In the joints/tendons. need to find a less painful detector to swing or I'm shut down from all but short hunts. don't know if I need the swingy thingy or a new/more ergonomic detector.

I have had a very long history of tendinitis in both elbows. The CTX has not caused any issues for me. Actually going from the Explorer to the E-Trac I started having wrist problems. But going from the E-Trac to the CTX, everything has been fine. I picked up my E-Trac the other day, after nearly a year of it leaning against the shop wall. It was extremely awkward feeling, now that I have become used to the CTX......HH

One thing I have found with any of them is to remember to keep a relaxed grip. Gripping lightly and guiding is better than choking the grip while forcing.

The was one of my biggest hesitations. I really the X1 probe but SunRay is discontinuing it anyway.
