Equinox Update reversal

Has anyone updated to the new software version 1.7.5 and decided to go back to the old software version 1.5.0. if so why? I did, I just liked the old version better the detector ran fine for me and the depth gauge was never something I paid attention to on any of my detectors and I believe the detector lost depth with the new software. So please let me know what you think. Thank You

I went back. My machine just gave more accurate TIDs in the wet sand and water. Its a little more chatty...but seems more sensitive. I had a good 600 hours in that program and it feels comfortable. I think beach 1 maybe hotter. I agree...I rarely look at the depth gauge....and like most the small stuff I’m looking for fools it anyway.

Isn't there a Youtube video showing an updated Equinox and not updated compared, and the update one tore up the old version in all conditions?

Great if it works for others. It acts like a pinball machine for me, any target seemed to set it off on a multi toned tangent. Had to lower sensitivity in the mid teens to quiet it down in town and not a lot better at a place where the nearest power pole was 1/4 mile away. Bottle caps were reading like a solid hit up to 22-23 in the river sand (fresh water beach). So why not reinstall and dig less trash + the coin count doubles.

My problem with the new version is that the pin pointing was off,the VID numbers were higher than the old version and I found more clad coins reading in what should have been the silver range. VDI's also jumpy except for nickels.

Sometimes newer is not always better I find the pinpointer off as well and at the beach coin numbers like quarters are reading higher than they should and are jumpy!

Yes.

Here it is:

OK so if I decide on doing a factory reset and since my Nox came from the factory with the 1.5 setting will it revert back to that setting since I updated it with the 1.75?

I updated and will stay with it .

As for above quote . I find the pinpointing is always off , i am getting used that . The numbers are still the same as they used to be that i can see. But then i am searching UK beaches .

Those of you that had a problem with higher numbers after running the update, well I have news for you.
The update did not take properly.
So .. you need to reinstall the old version, then do the update again.
From someone that knows. Yep.

I believe you but find it hard to believe that Minelab would allow a design to be so flakey with firmware loads. Wouldn't they do a CRC check after a load? If some things changed some not how are we to know when it is a good or bad load? What do you guys think?

It is crazy that any program uploads and finishes but isn't correct, but I have to agree. It might be connected with an issue of a factory preset not really presetting to original numbers the first time. Unusual code.

I never had problems with those number....... but i didnt like the numbers it was giving me on targets in the wet sand. Ive loaded and unloaded that baby a few time. Im using the old program...... it seems to be doing very well. Besides when i run into others with the machine ...... most have the new program loaded...... maybe i have an edge .... kind of like using a different machine lol.

I am going to go back to the old version and do a few tests. I know for sure the pinpoint location has changed (somehow) but my machine seems more unstable with the new version. As in it falses a lot...phantom signals...one way hits/blurps. Mine didn't ever do this before. But it did save me from getting jolted with a live cattle fence the other day. I could hear the pulses from the fence thru falses in my detector.

I hunted with the old version yesterday and all is back to good again. VDI #s are back to making sense, EMI was more noticable than the new version but easily tamed by reducing sensitivity. Its all good!

I hunted a couple of days ago with the new firmware. My 800 was very chatty and my Pro-Find 35 was interfering with the Nox. There were some close power lines. I rolled the 800 back to the original version and went back to the same area. It was noticeably quieter. The only spot it was chatty was when almost underneath the power lines I also didn't get any interference from the pinpointer. BTW, both times there my phone was off and in the truck..
