Which one unmask better??? check it out.

Thanks for doing the video mostly in english. The test was completely valid to me but troubling with the nail sounding of nicely in almost the entire video with the Nox. With the limited information available to the user on an Equinox ( tone and 1-40 TID) VS a CTX it looks like I'm going to be digging more iron. Hopefully the nail with a halo I the ground will be easier to figure out and not chirp so nicely as it does in your video. Thanks again Scott. The English lessons are helping.

Calabash, maybe I am missing the point you are trying to make in this video. But clearly my Deus would sing out sweetly on that dime. Not sure why you have the Reactivity set at 3. The Deus would nail that dime at R=1 or 2. Perhaps instead of using the raspy Pitch program, try using Multi Tones so folks can better compare the tonal responses between the two machines. Just a thought.

Todd that's one of those nails...for some reason it likes that one. I have been on iron loaded sites and have not dug anymore iron than I would have dug with the deus.. Iron bias can be adjusted too and iron tone can be cut back on to help. Like the deus gives iron buzz on edge on falsing iron...

Please redo that test with the iron elevated like that and show us your deus hitting the dime clearly...at a setting of 1 or 2 reactivity .If I have time I will do it in the next few days...

I'm reluctant to join this conversation as these comparison threads get out of control sometimes. First off, I am a "fan boy" of The Deus. I'm also a "fan boy" of the Minelab Sovereigns and Whites 5900/6000 series. I'm thinking of getting the Equinox for my beach hunting around old lumber mill and ferry dock sites. These sites are black sand salt water sites loaded with iron and trash. I think it will work well there. As for your test. At first I thought It might be your disc. setting which is set on 10 if I remember your relic settings right on the Deus. On most detectors the iron disc. needs to be set just at the point where the nails just start to false or break through to get the best separation in iron. I duplicated your test the best I could using the tape roll with the dime and similar nail sizes using my Deus ver. 3.2 with the 9 inch LF coil and multi tones. I tried different disc. settings from 0 thru 6.5 which nocked out the nails and reactivity from 3 down to 0 all with silencer on 0 and was able to the hit the dime clearly on all settings. I don't have a Nox yet to compare so I'm not trying to say that one detector is better than the other just that my test with the Deus is a bit different than yours.

I would like to have seen the test done using the XY screen settings with the round H/F coil.

Today, I was finding small items items lying under a mix of ash and coke from the old steam train days of yesteryear.:) Jerry.

Did you elevate the nail on the tape roll above the dime? Now take you lf coil and try it on a low conducter in the same scenario...gold...

Yes I did elevate the nail above the dime on the rim of the tape roll. I also moved the dime over as close as I could get to the nail on the rim above it and still hit it in 0 reactivity with 0 silencer. I will try the same test with some small low conductors.

I will do a video of the test tonight or tomorrow if I can get my son to return my video camera. If not I'll just use my phone.

Calabash, I told you I would try the test and I did. Now understand, I have a foot of snow on the ground so I had to resort to the my basement man cave test bed. Under these "ideal" conditions I tried to replicate your set up. I could get that dime to hit but it definitely took some effort. It really struggled when the dime was up close to the elevated nail. The Equinox in your video definitely seemed to have an easier time of it. I think the main point of your video was that even if the Deus could hit it with the right combination of coil and settings, that if you changed the conductivity of the target, that the Deus set up would have to change as well in order to hit it. The ability of a multi-frequency machine to hit various conductors in varying circumstances with out having to change your set up is a definite plus.

Before everyone has a bird, I do understand that metal detecting tests done in a basement are suspect at best. But based on previous tests done outside, I do believe I would likely have similar results with the elevated nail test. Test was done using just the LF coils using multiple programming approaches. I hate to even call it a test under those conditions. Call it what you want.:)
