Equinox 6" coil rattle

vlfdetectorist

New member
I recently purchased a minelab 6" coil for my equinox 800 and I noticed the coil has something loose and rattling inside.
The noise is prominent if I flip it upside down, move it left-to-right or lightly shake it , the coil is just a few days old and I've only tested it in my yard for a few minutes, so its not been damaged.
Should I reach out to minelab to see about a replacement?

Guess I should probably see about a replacement then.
Since its only been a few days would it be more appropriate for me to reach out to my dealer or just contact Minelab?

You keep saying "photo's" as if I sent more than one? Care to elaborate? Perhaps you have pornographic popups happening because of the sites you visit?

At this point I think you are just trolling

I would never trust a coil that rattles when you shake it.
I suspect big epoxy void(s).

Contact your dealer first to see if he'll do anything, and if he doesn't (or tries to talk you out replacing it)....go directly to Minelab.

But don't dawdle too long....talking about it won't improve it, lol.

Yes, the original picture did link to pornography.
It was reported and I came here to remove it but, it’s already gone.

Maybe where your storing pictures etc is infected with something causing this?
Im not a pc guru so maybe talk to someone who knows PCs?

Please refrain from posting pictures or links until this is corrected.

Friendly reminder there will be zero tolerance for posting of things of this nature deliberately.

Thanks

My dealer wouldn't help me with it but minelab took care of me.

They said the coil is not suppose to make noise, they considered it a defective coil.
The noise was so bad they said they could hear it over the phone.

Ok, it seems this was a honest mistake caused by a third party image hosting site IMHO.
I have spoken with parties involved and all is well.

There have been apologies issued to anyone effected.

This is a good time to make a point about using the website.
If for example you do not quite know how to upload pics simply ask.
There is also the search button who is your and everybody’s best friend.

LETS CONTINUE TO KEEP THIS THE BEST DETECTING FORUM OUT THERE!
Thanks guys and gals,
Mike

I looked into the picture as well. You're all guilty of being goofballs and need to go stand in the corner for a timeout.

Happy Hunting

 ....and that is the correct response from Minelab.

I suspect the robotic arm that automatically epoxies the coil windings and electronics, had run low on epoxy, and no one caught it until it had already made yours.
(And perhaps others.)
There's probably a huge bubble inside where the electronics board (or other critical components) can rattle around when you shake the coil.
(It would NOT have improved your coil's performance, lol.)

Glad you're getting it taken care of!

I think you are right, when I was on the phone with minelab I told them about the epoxy being half-filled in a couple spots and they said that was not normal either.
