EPIC HUNT with the ATX 8 inch mono!

Hi guys....I spent three hours in the water today (winter here) 7mm wetsuit snorkeling with the ATX and the 8 inch mono..... paid for the coil (and probably another one also)

65 grams of 9ct Gold. Bunch of silver and junk chains.

2 9ct gold rings, silver ring, and the biggest solid gold bangle I have seen! It is AWESOME! Old drop...fairly deep - thought it was a coke can and it is the same or slightly bigger diameter.

The 8 inch coil is not as deep as the stock coil - but easy in the water to locate the target.

I may go over the same area tomorrow with the stock coil for deeper targets.

One of the better hunts! Truly a massive ring!!!

Nice! I went out this morning and got one bobby pin and a nickle.

I did return a rose gold band to a lady yesterday and she gave me $160. She offered more but it was a small band. She was an older lady and it belonged to her grandmother. She was very happy.

I'd like to take my atx snorkeling, it is high on my list. I'd really like to have a hunt like yours. I have yet to have one of those multiple gold score days.

Way to go!

All I got was two 5 cents tonight and a munted lure and used 20 bucks of fuel in the valiant .
Good score on the gold.

Thanks guys...very strange. The a few days before I was maybe 50 meters up the beach. ...one coin in three hours! There are no clear rules with beaches. ..

NICE SCORE! ! !

Hi

Just read your post on the 8 inch mono coil and was wondering if you would have the time to summarize your thoughts on it after a year or so of use.

What are it's pros/cons?
Is it easier to pinpoint with and move through the water in surfy conditions?

I appreciate your thoughts and look forward to hearing from you

hi there - I think the 8 inch coil is a winner!

a) easier to pinpoint
b) less water resistance in the water
c) on a clean beach can run pretty high sensitivity

when I went on a recent trip, all I took was the 8 inch coil..... I will save the larger coil for the beach.

If you 'water hunt' with the ATX - the 8 inch coil is a very good choice, and I would rather have that than stock.

Aside - losing "iron check"

Ya gotta LOVE that ATX. I do. Unbelievable bangle, must be 50gr by itself.

After using my ATX, I thought I would just do with the stock coil and continue to use my hip mounted Infinium with the 8 inch mono. The standard ATX coil does me well in the summer - searching mostly fresh drops. The 8 inch mono on the Infinium is mainly used for the winter months in and around the rocks at low tide, I think I will try the ATX with the stock coil this winter, But I believe it will be too heavy for me when in such shallow water. The 8 inch coil can not be that much lighter than the standard coil - most of the weight is still in the shaft. On the wet/dry sand, out of the water, I have to use the Minelab ProSwing 45 when I swing the standard coil on the ATX. Nice to have options.

Stalker1, you and I are undoubtedly the only persons in the world with both an ATX and a Valiant. My Valiant is a '62 2 door hardtop Signet with a "built" 225 slant six making 229 h.p. with 4 barrel, Dutra dual exhaust headers, roller lifters, stall converter, beefed up transmission8 3/4 rear end and larger drum brakes. Most peeps don't even know what a Valiant is. :)
