Thanks! It is a great machine best one made IMO.

CD,

The only negative I've heard (and personally agree with) is that the NOXs don't seem to find a lot in sites that have already been hit hard by FBS machines. I am ancient enough to have been around when the XS first came out, we were getting dozens to hundreds of silver coins out of sites that had been hit hard for decades. I would LOVE if the NOX (or any other detector, lord knows I've bought a few), would make this happen again.

I agree high conductors are the first to go on a site. Where the Nox shines over FBS IMO is in the mid to low conductor range... I have hunted behind others and found all kind of goodies in the mid to low range. They thought the relic s were gone …..

The Explorer and it derivatives may just be the best silver coin hunter ever made.

Chris,

I have to disagree to some extent.

The FBS machines were very good, but I have been going behind them and the faster response time is showing things where the E-Trac thresh hold would be silent due to trash concentration.

Yes, some of these areas are quiet for the Equinox, but I have been hunting the trashiest spots and sniffing things out between the trash where I had hunted with the E-Trac with 11", 8x6" and 6" coils (with the 11" coil on the Equinox no less).

This has opened up a lot of old areas for me and I am finding a lot of silver and wheaties.

I use my FBS machines with almost no discrimination, on my XS only bottle cap area discriminated out. So my machine almost never nulls out.

Some people seem to do well with the NOXs in areas they already hunted hard with FBS machines. Others like me not very much. I'm wondering if the folks doing well had been hunting previously with some discrimination on their FBS machines and had lots of nulling going on. Perhaps a faster responding machine does better then.
