Epaulet & a hand full of lead

We got out to a old spot today. It was in pasture for years & just recently farmed again. The epaulet was the first whole one I've dug. It fell apart when I got it out of the hole but hey it's whole. Thanks for looking & HH

Yes it's been good for years. It's really low now. It was a pasture for years & was almost unhuntable because the grass was so high. Thanks for looking & HH

WOW.... amazing find. That place keeps producing some fine relics. CCH :thumbup::thumbup:

Omg, i didnt even know they were worn on this side of the pond... gotta be one rare find for sure... congrats and thanks for sharing... learn something new everyday. ..

Yes I didn't think that they had them that late in the war. It's a Gettysburg retreat spot that's a Confederate line. I've found all kinds of Federal stuff there & lots of Confederate stuff too. Like I said it was a pasture since the modern metal detector has been around. It was pounded over the years. But it was always high in grass.

I've found three of the big parts of the epaulet there. This is most of the lead I've dug at this spot. Some of it isn't from there but most of it is. I ran into a guy there a couple of years ago & he told me about digging it when it was good. He said he recovered a cs tongue & over 1000 bullets. I know my old buddy told me he dug a Mississippi A cuff button there.I found a block I button just on the other side of the fence from there. It's a good spot & it's Gettysburg campaign. Thanks for looking & HH

Look at all those gardners. :yikes:

I would've loved to hunt it in the 80's. Man can you imagine what came out of there.
