Environmental seal deteriorating...

Chris(SoCenWI)

Well-known member
I sent my F-75 for the seal upgrade this winter.

I was using it yesterday and noticed that it looked like the gasket they installed between the control box halves had a zillion little cracks in it all the way around. Basically looked like rubber deteriorating. Hopefully this is only happening on the exposed part of the gasket.

Anyone else notice this?

Chris

They only used that gasket for a short time then changed to a different type. Now I know why.

They changed that gasket early on, not many had that type. So I was told.

Phone customer service, explain, and ask for a UPS call tag to send it back. That way you don't have to pay for the shipping.

Yep, the same thing just happened to mine, except it broke at one of the cracks. There weren't any problems with cracking until after I sent it in for the upgrade. Looks like they need to use a different rubber gasket. Guess I'll be sending it back in soon.

Thanks for posting!

Mine looked like that the day I got it back from the weatherproofing update. BTW Chris... the Fisher service questions are getting dealt with on the Fisher forum. Might wanna try asking this there.

I am sure Fisher will fix it all you have to do is ask...I have a car that is worth more then a house and I had a lot of problems but the dealer fixed it...it is the way things are today you don't always pay for what you get. It is just the way it is today but I can remember the yesterdays and boy you got your $$$ worth

The seal on mine has broken too and it is only a few months old. I think I'll deal with it myself with some silicon. The electronics on this machine are outstanding, but Fisher didn't extend that quality to the rest of the machine, as evidenced by the various upgrades. - Jim
