OK. I had a explorer II a while ago and sold it. Recently acquired a used one. All I ever had on my original and my new one was the 1050 stock coil. I hear so much about the pro coil, usually positive. Is that coil worth my looking in to? Is it a weight balance thing vs perfformance that would want me to have one? For what its worth I have mild to neutral soil conditions. Would like your opinons.

Have had a few coils and although the stock coil is good I've always opted for another makers item - usually Coiltek or SEF - but I bought a Sun Ray Stealth X-12 just lately and it's an excellent bit of kit, after a few initial setbacks that may or may not have been my fault it out-does anything I've had on in the last 10 years - VERY VERY Sensitive - Gaz.

This is a selection of 1 session - plenty of small bits with the very sensitive X-12 - and to any Relic Hunters searching with ANY amount of iron mask - some of the smaller items including buttons hit BOTTOM LEFT on the screen

I upgraded to the SEF 10x12 coil and it was like getting a new detector. I ran the stock coil for one season and wasn't really happy with the results I was getting. Compared my coil with my brother's stock EXII coil and his ran better than mine. Since my EXII was purchased used, I chose to get the SEF and then went over some of the areas we hunted before and what a difference it made. I found targets that I know i walked over before and never heard them. Haven't used the Pro Coil but either way replacing the stock coil will make a difference.

You have already best coil for explorer if its right one, but you can always buy another and test side by side. I use 1050 but have Pro too and dont see any advantage. But I am sure others will disagree with me.

I have an Explorer XS with the stock coil. Would these be the same suggetions for that early model too?
