England Trip....getting ready!

I am soooo jazzed and so looking forward to my annual trip to England:ukflag: this summer!:clapping: This trip will be extra special because we have set up (through a friend who owns the property) a metal detecting site in the countryside that was an area of Roman activity. This area has been a site of activity throughout the centuries so it's anyone's guess as to what is in the ground. As long as it has been in his family, metal detectorists have not been allowed on it (there is no cost to detect it...but we'll give him something of course!)....so we'll see!
The 14K cross and chain is just one of many great finds that I have detected from previous metal detecting trips to England :twodetecting: and I took the pic of the Virgin Atlantic plane wing the last time I flew!

I live in the UK, , I've been finding old coins recently this last week, where are you staying? You are more than welcome to come visit, Here in devon. There's some good spots I know.... Good luck, I look forward to your posts, WW

Thanks everyone and W.W. I will be in the Midlands mostly, between Melton Mowbray and Nottingham. Thank you for the invite to Devon though. I have a fairly firm itinerary this year but maybe next year? I'll be sharing the finds I get on the Forum but I don't look forward to having to submit items to an Inquest:unsure:! I have heard it can take a long time to figure out if it belongs to the Queen and who gets what % of the proceeds.

Better to go through that process and know you will end up with something than to have massive areas of "public" land completely off limits like we have here in the so called land of the free.

Enjoy the trip. I'm looking forward to reports.

I'm afraid I don't know anything about declaring finds, I just beach and water hunt and have never found anything old. Good luck, I look forward to seeing how you get on :)
